The Kashmir Grey Langur also known as the Chamba Sacred Langur, is an Old World monkey species endemic to the temperate and subalpine forests of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and northern Pakistan. It is typically found in high-altitude regions ranging from 2,200 to 4,000 meters, often in oak, deodar, and pine forests.
This langur is distinguished by its dense grayish-brown fur, long tail, and black face with white fur framing it. Adapted to cold climates, its thick coat helps it survive in snowy and rugged terrains. Kashmir Gray Langurs are also primarily folivorous, feeding on leaves, fruits, flowers, and seeds, although their diet may vary with seasonal availability.
