The Rhesus Macaque is one of the most widespread and adaptable primates, belonging to the Cercopithecidae family. Native to South Asia, it is commonly found in a variety of habitats, including forests, grasslands, and urban areas. These medium-sized monkeys have a reddish-pink face, which is hairless, and their fur ranges from brown to gray. They are highly social animals, living in troops with complex hierarchies led by dominant males. Rhesus Macaques are omnivorous, feeding on fruits, seeds, insects, and human food scraps, making them particularly common around human settlements.
