Burrowing Vole Hyperacrius fertilis

Burrowing Vole, also known as Subalpine Kashmir vole or True's Vole is a species of rodent in the family Cricetidae found in northern  India and northern Pakistan. It inhabits high-altitude areas, typically found at elevations between 2,500 and 4,500 meters, where it occupies alpine meadows, grassy slopes, and rocky outcrops. 

This vole has a compact body covered in soft, dense fur, which is typically brown or grayish in color, offering camouflage in its rocky and grassy habitats. It has a short tail, small ears, and large, powerful hind legs adapted for burrowing. Like other voles, the Subalpine Kashmir Vole is a herbivore, feeding on grasses, roots, and seeds that are abundant in its alpine environment.
