The Himalayan Field Mouse, also known as Ward's Field Mouse or Wroughton’s Wood Mouse, is a small rodent species native to the Himalayan regions of South Asia, particularly found in parts of India, Nepal, Bhutan, and northern Pakistan. It inhabits a range of environments, including grasslands, agricultural fields, and forest edges, typically at elevations ranging from 1,500 to 3,500 meters.
This mouse is characterized by its slender body, soft fur, and a long, thin tail. Its fur is generally light brown or grayish on the back, with a paler underside. The Himalayan Field Mouse has large ears and eyes, adapted for its nocturnal and terrestrial lifestyle. It is an omnivorous feeder, and is known for its burrowing behavior. It is most active during the night, foraging for food and storing it in its burrows.
