The Kashmir Field Mouse, also known as Miller’s Wood Mouse, is a small rodent species endemic to the Kashmir Valley and surrounding regions in the western Himalayas. This mouse is typically found in a range of habitats, including alpine meadows, grasslands, and agricultural fields, at elevations of around 2,000 to 3,500 meters.
Characterized by its slender body, the Kashmir Field Mouse has soft, brownish fur on its back, with a lighter-colored underside. Its long tail, large eyes, and ears are adaptations to its nocturnal, terrestrial lifestyle. As an omnivore, the Kashmir Field Mouse primarily feeds on seeds, grains, fruits, and small insects, foraging at night to avoid daytime predators.
