Small Kashmir Flying Squirrel

The Small Kashmir Flying Squirrel also known as the Kashmir Flying Squirrel, is a nocturnal rodent species belonging to the Sciuridae family. Found in the Himalayan regions of India, Pakistan, and Nepal, it inhabits temperate forests at altitudes between 1,500 to 3,500 meters, preferring dense woodlands with oak, pine, and deodar trees.
This medium-sized flying squirrel is characterized by its soft, dense, brownish-gray fur, bushy tail, and a gliding membrane (patagium) that stretches between its limbs, enabling it to glide between trees. As an arboreal species, it spends most of its life in the canopy, coming out at night to forage for food, which includes fruits, nuts, seeds, bark, and occasionally insects.
