Scully's Tube-nosed Bat Murina tubinaris

Scully's Tube-nosed Bat is a small, insectivorous bat found in parts of South Asia, including the Himalayan foothills of India, Nepal, and Myanmar. It inhabits montane and subtropical forests, often roosting in tree foliage or among dense vegetation.

This bat is known for its distinctive forward-facing, tubular nostrils, which are thought to aid in its echolocation. It has soft, dense fur—typically reddish-brown or golden on the back and paler underneath. Like other Murina species, it has a delicate build and narrow wings suited for maneuvering through forest canopies.

Scully’s Tube-nosed Bat is elusive and poorly studied, with little known about its ecology and behavior. It is presumed to feed on small flying insects.
