The Asian Long-fingered Bat is a medium-sized insectivorous bat found across South, East, and Southeast Asia, including India, China, Japan, and the Himalayan region. It prefers roosting in caves, tunnels, and old buildings, often forming large colonies.
This bat is named for its long, narrow wings and elongated fingers, which aid in fast and agile flight. Its fur is usually dark brown or smoky gray, and it has a relatively short muzzle and large eyes. It measures about 9–11 cm in body length, with a wingspan of 30–35 cm.
The Asian Long-fingered Bat is a nocturnal species that feeds mainly on flying insects, such as moths and beetles. It plays an important ecological role in insect population control.
